Ankara University Extends Horizontal Transfer Application Deadline

Ankara University has announced that the deadline for graduate horizontal transfer applications for the 2026-2027 academic year fall semester has been extended until October 9, 2026.

It was initially announced that applications would be accepted between August 17-21, 2026. With the new announcement, the application period for graduate students has been extended until October 9.

Candidates are required to apply in person to the administration with the requested documents or send their documents by mail.

Who Can Apply for Horizontal Transfer?

Candidates applying for horizontal transfer to master's programs must be a successful student who has completed at least one semester in a graduate program at another higher education institution.

Students applying for doctoral programs must not have taken the qualifying exam yet.

Candidates must also meet the specified ALES, YDS/YÖKDİL, and graduation grade point average requirements for the relevant academic semester of the graduate program they are applying for.

Grade Point Average and Course Requirements

Students applying must have taken at least three courses in their registered graduate program and passed all of them.

For master's programs, a minimum GPA of 70/100 or 2.75/4.00 is required, while for doctoral programs, a minimum GPA of 75/100 or 3.00/4.00 is required.

How Will Course Equivalence Be Determined?

It will be possible for the courses taken by the student in the graduate program at another higher education institution to be accepted as equivalent by the program they wish to transfer to.

The credit values of these courses can be counted instead of the required courses in the new program, based on the recommendation of the relevant Departmental Board and the decision of the Institute Administrative Board.

Not All Programs Can Be Applied To

Applications cannot be made for graduate programs for which no quota has been announced for horizontal transfer in the relevant academic semester.

Additionally, horizontal transfer from non-thesis master's second education and distance education programs to regular education graduate programs is not allowed.
